Increased Participation as Fall Season Kicks Off in Asia

Acker opened the Fall auction season in Asia with Hong Kong answering the bell of the strong US September sale, ringing in HK$46 million (US$6 million) across two days on September 26 and 27. A packed room and spirited bidding from start to finish set the tone for the months ahead in Asia, building anticipation for Acker’s third Singapore sale on October 25.
The Top Ten Lots were led by Burgundy, with a side of Chateau Petrus. Karuizawa Japanese Whisky also made an appearance, thanks to an extensive collection that shone a bright light on spirits this past weekend. White Burgundy took the top position with six bottles of 2011 D’Auvenay Chevalier-Montrachet in OWC reaching HK$850,000 (US$108,974). D’Auvenay shared second place with Domaine Leroy, as six bottles of 2009 D’Auvenay Bonnes-Mares matched twelve bottles of 2004 Leroy Vosne-Romanée in OWC, each bringing in HK$375,000 (US$48,077). The fourth position was a tie between a Methuselah of 2001 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche in OWC and a twelve-bottle OWC case of 1982 Pétrus, both selling for HK$350,000 (US$44,872). A second case of 1982 Pétrus followed at HK$275,000 (US$35,256) to take sixth place. Next came a Methuselah of 1988 DRC La Tâche and six bottles of 2005 Rousseau Chambertin, each at HK$250,000 (US$32,051). Rounding out the Top Ten were twelve bottles of 2009 Cathiard Romanée St. Vivant in OCB and three 700ml bottles of Karuizawa Single Malt Japanese Whisky “Sumo 48 Wrestlers Set,” both achieving HK$200,000 (US$25,641).
“It’s always a thrill to be back in Hong Kong, and this September you could really feel the difference — the energy in the room was palpable and a great sign for the season ahead,” commented Auction Director Truly Hardy. “It was wonderful to see both old friends and new faces, and we’re looking forward to returning in less than a month for our Fall sale in Singapore!”
Acker’s 2025 auction season continues with a US auction on October 18, the Singapore Anniversary auction on October 25, and the Zurich auction on November 8. Consignments are now being accepted for the November US and December Hong Kong sales, with deadlines of October 24 and October 31, respectively. Weekly web auction deadlines remain every Friday.
